Last week I came across the hundred pushups training program and it looked interesting. I read about it and it seems like a good and simple way to work on my upper body strength without going overboard on the expectations or what is needed of me. Three times a week and 10 minutes a session? I think I can handle that.
So today I start the first day of the 100 pushups training program. It's a 6 week program and I don't think I have stuck with anything for 6 weeks in my life so if I can get through this that will be huge for me. For now take a picture of me and put it up on your wall because this is the last time you will see me like this. 6 weeks from now I will look the same, but can do 100 pushups and therefore I will look significantly different.
If you wish to join me on this mission let me know below and we can do 100 pushups together. If you are a lady we can get creative and do them...nevermind.

I'm in.
Starting at rank 3... blast, thought I could get to 4.
I like of Veerle's css styled tables on the page.

I've completed day 1's workout. For the last level I got to 8. Yow. Might have done better if I hadn't done the "test" today as well.
Total pushups today: 63

Very nice man, I'm gonna wait till around 5 or so before I start mine. Yeah doing the test today and that set probably wasn't the best thing, but now you know what you can do.

@Ozone - you're almost at 100! :)
My arms hurt just thinking about the program. Funny, that's what I was getting the Wii Fit for, to make pushups more tolerable.

Yeah, it wasn't 63 consecutive. Only did one set where it was > 20, biiiiiig difference.
Doing 100 in a day is no big deal. Even if you're terrible at pushups you can spread them out far enough to do quite a lot within a day. Doing 100 in one session is ridiculously demanding.

You say it's not a big deal but I can name a ton of people who wouldn't come close. Maybe if you are talking 1 pushup spaced out 100x throughout the day somehow.

Count me in too. I'm at the start (a week or so in) of a get fit campaign and this is a good addition to keep me at it. I've not done anything other than read the details yet though!

So I managed to eek out 20 on the initial test, which puts me at a rank 3 for middle aged codgers. Guess I'll give this a shot.

Awesome, awesome, that's what I like to hear. Us men gotta stick together with all these women complaining about how we look. I mean they do all complain don't they?
Getting ready to start mine and I'll report back to let you know how bad I failed.

I do too. I can do 100 in a day but unless I wimped out and spaced them ridiculously my arms would be hit the next day.

Finished my set and max @ 20 on lvl 5 so that puts me at 54 pushups. That 20 was pretty damn hard as well, had to pause at 15. For everyone participating might I suggest either subscribing via email (below) or RSS so we can all remind each other and stay on top of things.
If anyone can find a similar situp program I'm all for it.

I also found that I need to work on my breathing, caught myself holding my breath too often.

I doubt I've done a push up since school days so this was a complete surprise for me about how many would be possible. It's nearly midnight so I just did the test and have earmarked Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday as my days, so day 1 is tomorrow for me. I did 14 for the test, 10+ is column three for the first few weeks for me then.

10, 10, 8, 6, 7 for the first day +20 for initial test = 61 for the day.
One minute between reps, a minute 45 between last rep and max.

I am feeling it today. Usually it takes me 2 days to feel the effects of a workout. I'm not sure if feeling it in less than one is a good indication or not.

I actually felt a little more invigorated (probably psychological) and no doubt when I go for tomorrow's set it will be a lil harder when my body remembers what I'm trying to do to it. At the very least you know you were doing them right...right?

Yeah, no complaints. It's one of those "you know you accomplished something" aches as opposed to "oh sh#@ that's bad."

Haha and those aches probably come too far and too few between for most of us on this site.

I reached out to get something and felt the tightness in the chest area...it is slowly starting to set in. Tomorrow will be fun and Friday the ultimate test methinks.
Also do you guys plan on doing them at the same time of day every time?

I feel a little bit of tightness today, but I'm not sore by any means. More kind of the feeling immediately after a work out -- sort of a "pumped muscle buzz", I guess.
Yesterday was an unusual day when I started this, the house was empty of kids potentially crawling all over me uninvited for no other reason other than I was laying on the floor and my back was available and convenient to jump on. So I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull this off at the same time every set, or not. I felt really energized after I recovered from my final set, so I think I might use this as a warmup to a workout at the gym. Might do it at the gym too, that way I wont need to worry about the extracurricular activity that my kids would bring.

Condition: Gonna faint.
Was definitely a mind over matter thing this time and I had to make sure not to cheat on the pushups to reach the goal. Breathing was much improved.

Haha is anyone else starting to feel the pressure of doing this publicly? Like you can't let the other guys down or admit if you don't make your reps? No worries, we are all here for each other so when I am the first to fail don't laugh...too loud.

Also, the instructions say if you really struggle you can repeat a week until you feel ready - I have no qualms about doing that if necessary - I'd rather get to the end late than not at all. I fully intend to finish though.

Day 3: 15, 13, 10, 10, 16
Barely made the last set of 10. Rested 4 minutes instead of the 2 before the last set. Everything I could do to hit the 16th.

Week 1, Day 3: 15, 13, 10, 10, 20
I can't seem to get over that 20 hump on the final set. Did 2-3 pauses during the last set so once we start getting to the at least 20 max phase for the last set I'm wondering if my body will be ready.
Looking at Week 2 it doesn't seem they increment that much, if any at all so getting through this first week was a good boost of confidence. Thanks to all you for sticking it out this far, treat yourself this weekend.
