For those who like women's gymnastics, I bet you will never forget all these great names - Ludmilla Tuoresheva, Cathy Rigby, Olga Korbut, Nadia Comaneci, Natalia Ilienko, Natalia Yurchenko, Nellie Kim, Mary Lou Retton, Shushunova, Omelianchik, Silivas ,Svetlana Boginskaya and Shanon Miller. They all made gymnastic beautiful and mesmerizing. I used to look forward to watching gymmnastics on television with great enthusiasm.
However, my love for the sport has reduced considerably of late. With more emphasis on difficulty, nobody cares to choreograph their routines well on floor exercise. Most gymnasts seem to be 'tone-deaf' with their silly dances. Watching beam routines is even more taxing as they really bore me to tears. There are countless bobbles, wobbles and falls from preliminaries to finals.
May I have your opinions of today's women's gymnastic? Do you share the same sentiment as I have?

I have to admit I do not follow it as much as I once did. After I learned what the girls put their bodies through I don't enjoy watching it as much as I used to.

My sister was a gymnast, so I've seen what goes on "behind the scenes." Too much pressure from parents and coaches, body image issues, the physical taxation, the isolation and lack of a social life outside of the gym (when you practice 40+ hours a week there's not much time to be a kid)... I don't like it. I can't watch it on television without sympathy (followed by anger) getting the best of me.
I think as more people become hip to that the more stigmatized the sports becomes, and its popularity has decreased as a result.
