You saw the showdown with the Colts last Sunday and here are some things that stuck out:

  • They won in Indy.
  • They won playing their worst game.
  • They won being down late in the 4th quarter.
  • They won when Addai had over 200 total yards.
  • They won with Brady doubling his interception total.
  • They won after setting a team record for penalty yards.

After all of that, they still beat Peyton. So can these guys really be stopped? I hope not. I'm not a Pats fan, but the '72 Dolphins need to see another team join them in the ranks of the undefeated. Tired of seeing someone pop a bottle every year after the last undefeated team loses. Just kill it now. Pats are going 19-0.

They showed that a good enough defense, one that can keep with them the whole game, can stop them. I'm sort of hoping they go undefeated (just so the people here in Miami can finally shut the hell up about being "the only undefeated team ever"), but if anyone has their number it may be the Steelers.

Watching Sunday's game, I was very satisfied that that Pats were down most of the games. I don't much like Indy, but I dislike that Pats more.

So it is only begrudgingly that I say that, yes, you're probably right. I think there's a strong possibility that the Patriots will be 19-0. If they aren't, it'll probably be because they played poorly and not because someone beats them. Poor play is why they almost lost this Sunday, and I do think it could happen again. But then I wouldn't put money on it.

I don't think the Pats will lose, unless it's to the Colts in the AFC Championship game. No one else in the league really stacks up against the Colts, and the Patriots beat them with all of those factors you mentioned above.

So no, I don't think they will lose.

Yes.

The only question would be Week 17 against the Giants in New York, who will likely be vying for a playoff position. It'll be a close game but I still think the Pats will win for the undefeated season.

That is one of the reasons I was leaning towards.

I also think that Pittsburgh has a strong chance of beating NE as well, so long as their offense is on par like they were on MNF.

But to answer the question ... I think they will lose at some point.

I think they'll lose three -- Pittsburgh, New York, and in the shocker of all shockers, they'll be upset by Miami by a field goal in the ultimate of all ironies.

they'll be upset by Miami by a field goal in the ultimate of all ironies

That would definitely be the ultimate of all ironies, especially considering that Miami may very well be the first team to ever lose all their games.

They definitely won't lose to Miami, especially since Ronnie Brown is done for the year.

I'll tell you what jark and JPhill -- As I write this, I've got 208 total points. Going off nothing more than my gut feeling at the moment, I'll split that between both of you (104/ea) if Miami doesn't pull off the upset.

Scrivs, I agree with you that the Dolphins need some company of another undefeated team. So smug. But it won't be the Pats this year. Or ever. The league has enough parity that someone will always be able to take you down. One game. What if Brady gets hurt? If that happens i'm not sure they win another game.

So no. Pats will not go undefeated.

I'll split that between both of you (104/ea) if Miami doesn't pull off the upset.

Deal. And even though Miami has the 6th best pass defense in the leauge, they are second to last in rush defense, so I think the Pats will find a way to be them. Of course this is if the whole team stays healthy.

I think the Rams and the Dolphins could go 0-16. I'd be surprised if the Pats didn't go 16-0, but I'm thinking Pittsburgh will beat Indy in the AFC championship.

Tampa did it in 1976, I believe. they almost did it in 1977 as well, but they pulled out 2 wins that season, towards the end.

Looks like it is up to the 'Fins since the Rams were able to beat the Saints.

Gnorb is correct in that Tampa Bay went defeated the season of 1976. We try to put that behind us.
