Oh, so YOU'RE the one person who cares. Well, there you go.
Sorry, Mets fan here. Angry and hate-filled as usual.

I always have to hold back a little smile when I hear that. It takes guts to refer to what I suspect is your 'national' championship as the 'world' series.
No offence, though, I'm happy for you and, hey, I spent one and a half miserable season as a member of a local baseball club here in Antwerp, Belgium when I was a child.

It's just a reference. Anybody knows that it's really just an MLB Championship, which is really what I wish they refer to it as.
Anyway, I can't really believe the Cardinals pulled off what they did and how they did it...winning in 5 games over a team with clearly better pitching and better hitting is quite the accomplishment, and they did it all with basically no real contribution from their best player (Pujols).
Tip your cap to the Cards, folks...great postseason for them.
And to those that thought the NL was crap...ha!

Mets fan here myself and I'm proud of my boys taking it to 7 games with essentially only 1 quality starting pitcher. In any case, congrats to the Cards, but I would have loved to see the Series go to a 2-2-1-1-1 format instead of the 2-3-2 because once you get that initial split you have 3 games at your own place and that's a huge advantage.
Congrats to the Tigers as well for having a dominating first-half of the season and slumping the second half, but doing enough to gain back the respect for the organization.

Can I tell you what it was like to walk around downtown Detroit last night?
It was terrible. The weather was somewhere between a slow rain and a wet snow and everybody avoided eye contact.
While this is normally not too out of context for a Detroit saturday night, it certainly shows the contrast from a few weeks ago after the New York Yankees went down, or when we swept Oakland; then, there were people cheering on the sidewalks, high-fiving anybody whose cap featured an olde-english "D", and being generally quite content.
I really hope that comes back sometime soon. I'll be trying for Tigers season tickets again next year.

Phil,
If it makes you feel any better, St. Louis City just got ranked #1 in amount of crime.
Then again it may make you feel even worse that Detroit once again placed second to St. Louis.
Detroit is ranked #2 in crime.
