NFL is upon us and every year Mike and I get together and play fantasy football with a couple of other geeks on the web in a private league. However, I thought it would be cool to create a 9rules Fantasy Football League to get some 9rules peeps to participate and join the fun. Be warned, this isn't a kiddie league where you play just to have fun. There will be some smack talk and we won't have fun unless you know a little something about football. Beating your opponent by 100pts is no fun for the competition.
We have 7 slots left for League I and if there is enough interest I could open up another league. If you are interested say so in this thread and provide a reason why you should get an open slot.

Of course Mike and Tyme will be in this league so if you have some beef and wish to provide them with a virtual ass whooping here is your chance.

Hmmmm, this could be fun.
A little skurred though.

What you can't beat Tyme and Mike in football? Come on now Jen. We will even let you have the whole Titans roster.

Only Titan I'd want is Vince Young anyway and he wouldn't even be my first choice QB.
I can't believe I just followed up "I'm skurred" with that sentence. :D
I'm game.

I'm in! This will be my third league for this football season. Are you planning on going through Yahoo, or what?
Scrivs

We are setup through ESPN.

Scrivs have you ever used Yahoo's, if so how much different is ESPN's, I've just never used it so I'm curious.

Used Yahoo two years ago so I can't speak on how different the scoring is, but if I recall it isn't that much of a difference. I think in Yahoo there is a bigger emphasis on kickers though and I can't remember if you get D positions or not. I'm not gonna customize the league that much so it will be a basic format.

mmm this could be fun.
I'll probably get killed.
:) I'm in.
My brother and I used to use Yahoo's system back in the day and had a hell of a good time with it. :)
My knowledge may not be what it once was, but I'll provide a challenge at least.

Yea, wouldn't it be hilarious if Scrivs lost to all the females plus the man trapped in a woman's body? :P

Damn there's a lot here. (as he stares at the giant page of info on his MacBook using his tethered smartphone for a connection).
This is going to be fun. :D

I hope you all know that I prepare for Fantasy Football at the end of every season. I've been on a streak for the past few years. Information, stats, lists, and analysis are my thing. :P

Mike is researching fantasy football picks, something you goofoffs should probably do instead of trashtalking where it doesn't even matter.

Never having used the ESPN system before, how does the whole live draft thing work?
Does it mean we sit in front of our machines at the time of the draft and pick players in real time?

Mike, my research is already done. It's been done. I have spreadsheets upon spreadsheets upon PDF's upon a whole bunch of other stuff that would mind boggle everyone. I don't think you realize, that statistics are fun for me. I analyze them for fun during every season. I've been doing it since I was a kid. In fact, back at home, I have notebooks analyzing players and stats from baseball and football from the 90's. It's really quite ridiculous.

Peroty, they have a pre-draft lobby that you can practice on. I suggest using it a couple of times before the live draft.

People do research, when you know football like I do the research comes to you. And numbers don't tell you anything when certain personnel leave teams changing the whole chemistry. Just hand me the title now.

All the research in the world won't keep one of your picks from getting injured or somebody else scoopin em in the draft.

And to answer your question, peroty, yes, you can sit in the lobby live and draft your team as it happens, or I think you can set all the players in a pre-draft order and it will auto-draft for you if you are not present at the time of the draft.

Pretty safe bet that Vick won't get injured or drafted before Rundle picks him up.

Though if he's in jail that won't help much either. ;-)
Thanks all for the answers. :) I have a feeling Mr. Awesome is going to mop the floor with me. But I'll provide some amusement at least. ;-)

Nah, don't you worry. I won't mop the floor with you. Sweep maybe, but not mop.

So it seems as though the draft is tonight...are we not moving it to tomorrow as requested?
Edit: Oh I see. One more vote needed to change it!
