I read somewhere that there is a correlation between ultimate and high intelligence (obviously not causation, but neat to know that the smart one's know where it's at... or else low contact = high participation?). Can't find it now though. It's out there somewhere.

I can't attest to the validity of that statement, but I do know that in the circle of (too good to be) ivy league colleges, there are some wicked ultimate teams. I'm nearby, so I've had the chance to play against Johns Hopkins in a few recreational games. Their players are fast and their strategies are evil.
Personally, I love the game, and I've always felt that the game pulls a really diverse crowd, due to the simplicity of gameplay.
I like ultimate, and it's fun... but it's down the list of my favorite sports to play. Basketbal, football, baseball/softball, hockey, and racquetball come in ahead of it, then ultimate, then frisbee golf / golf golf, tennis, ping pong in that order behind it.
It's a little too finesse of a game for my likings. That and I'm an awful frisbee thrower. I can catch them fine, but once it leaves my hand, I have no idea where it's going. I'd rather play a nice rough game of football or basketball, for sure. Take out some aggression.
I dunno, you can let out a lot of aggression with some powerful throws. You can also let out a lot by actually being able to catch someone else's powerful throws. The rush you get from making an awesome catch is unsurpassed by anything i've experienced playing the sports that you prefer.
I'm not a huge fan of frisbee golf because it's the catching that I love when it comes to sports, that and the outrunning everyone to make some impossible catches possible.

I've played for about 10 years now, since I was 13 I think. In fact I just got back from a practice.
I'm slightly addicted...
Got to watch out for those party tournaments though, watching drunken games of naked ultimate is always... scary.
