From the Clip Brett Favre: Packers should let me play elsewhere posted by Scrivs:

"And he says, 'Well, playing here is not an option, but we can't envision you playing with another team, you know, either.' And I thought, so basically, I'm not playing for anyone if I choose to come back."

Brett Favre says he just wants to play, but I can understand what the Packers are saying. I am not sure if I can feel sorry for him even if he says he was pressured to make the decision to retire.
I have always been a Brett fan, but I don't think I would want him to come play for the Bucs. Why can't athletes retire and enjoy their retirement?

He is playing a prima donna role and it is annoying. The Packers have a chance to either let him start or let him go, no other option. If they want to they can have a behidn the scenes agreement where he doesn't sign with a NFC North team. Carolina and Tampa Bay are two possible destinations, but I don't want him here, that would make our QB ranks have an average age of 2000.

I can see why he wants to come back though, you spend your whole life living a certain way and then that life has changed he simply wants to go back.

Bret Favre in Tampa = Joe Montana in KC. Basically just a waiting room for retirement which won't really be good for either side.

Hoever, if he can still play, I don't see why not. Hell, maybe Atlanta -- his first team -- would like to have their prodigious son return. (Yes, prodigious, not prodigal.)

I've always been a Farve fan too, but I think he needs to just stay retired. I can't see him playing on another team at all, and getting used to a different system on another team could take some time to adjust to, which Brett doesn't really have a lot of since he's not exactly young.

That's the bitch of being a franchise player: once a player's identity and a team's become so intertwined, it's hard to separate or move on without some feelings getting hurt.

I hate the way people are vilifying the Packers. I like and respect Brett Favre but he's been stringing them along for a few years now with the will he/won't he. He isn't getting any younger either. I'm not saying Aaron Rodgers is Steve Young but he was good at Cal and a first-round draft pick. Although the Packers had been pretty irrelevant since Lombardi left Mike Holmgren groomed Favre into a great quarterback and in turn, the Packers into a successful team. So I can see why fans would want him to stick around.

BUT the team needs to think about the future and not rest all its hopes on a 38-year-old quarterback.

PS Sending Favre to Tampa would be dumb. But at least he and Jeff Garcia could play bridge and eat at Piccadilly together.

Joe Montana is a perfect analogy.

For fear of driving myself absolutely crazy, I've been totally abstaining from updating myself on the progress of this media-spurred drama between the Packers, Favre's agent and Favre himself. It pains me and it makes me so mad, actually probably more sad, that this episode had to come along and spoil what's been set, dig up what's already been buried.

I feel like I owe it to Favre to be sympathetic, to care about the fact that he feels like he wants to still play, because he's done such a service to my team. And they to him. So as for all the spoils that are following right now, my heart just cannot take this. I want Favre to be happy and not so much a sacrificial lamb (he's good while he was good now get him out of there), but this is football.

Everything with the way he went out somewhat on top, with the last season going out all the way to the NFC championship, everything just seemed to fit into place as far as indicating that he wanted to go out on top.

C'mon, having drafted Rodgers a few seasons ago, we knew this was coming. We were preparing for this. This is football.

...Which team will be to Brett Favre what the Chiefs were to Montana?

All I can say is, i am glad I am not a Packers fan right now.
