Today I have a simple question: How many push ups can you do? I did a test this morning and it seems like 25 is my limit for consecutive push ups.

10 probably. After 1 week it would jump to 50. My body is weird like that.

I used to be able to do 100, but then again, that's back when I didn't weigh very much. I can probably do about 50 now, but I still don't weigh very much :)

Seven, my lower body is much stronger than my upper body.

My best is 50, but I'm quite light. And I can't even do one sit-up without something weighing down my feet.

i work for an investment bank and some dumb ass trader bet that he could do 500 push ups in one hour. sort of as part of the bet, he obviously could not just stop trading for an hour while he did his push ups. he started taking $100 bets from the other traders. he ended up doing about 200 in one hour. hahaha....i think he lost about $500 of his money that day.

Just tried it. 18 when I started to feel it. 29 when my face it the floor. :) Very eye opening. I need to build up my arm strength. I'm going to try it for a week and see how quickly I improve because I honestly haven't done any in ages.

All I am good for is four or five. I eat too much (even though I'm somewhat skinny) and don't excersize nearly enough.

Once you're above 40 it's not as much about strength, as it is about fighting lactic acid.

Man, back in high school I could do 60 -70. But... I'm not in high school anymore. I'm overweight and going on 30. I could probably pump out 20 but I'd be breathing pretty heavy!

Twenty...and then my skinny body calls it quits. This is great, I think, because really I've more of an entrepreneurial spirit anyway. I believe in equal time to a lot of things. So, see, I'll do twenty push ups and a dozen chin ups. Then I'll go eat ice cream. My body is awesome. It gets me.

I just tried it and I did 10. I could do more, but without proper preparation I didn't want to hurt myself, so I stopped. Maybe 5 more I can do though. :)

I seem to have been born with the upper arm capacity of a dead hamster. I have been in and out of being fit a lot of my life and done marital arts for most of it, however never been able to do many push ups - can't at all ever and doubt will get across monkey bars. I do have double jointed arms at the elbow which could explain it but it's still a point of laughter when others see me attempting it.

2, maybe 3 if I'm lucky. My arms are freaking weak and I get lower back pain. I stick with bench presses for now.

I do 30, three times a day. I think if i wanted, i could probably do 60 in a burst, but i'm in no rush to find out.

I usually do sets at 20-25, resting in between. My left elbow always cracks and pops as I do them though so maybe after 30 in a row my arm will just fall off lol.

I did 60 yesterday, in sets of 10. Going to try and see what I max out at now...
28. Ow. Gimme a few days and I bet I can get close to 40. Yesterday was the first time I'd done any pushups in a few years.

I can't do many, and so few of them that I won't mention how many. But...I can run a 26.2 mile marathon, straight through. How many of you have done that (besides estarla)?

I do 300 per day, sets of 50 before and after I eat. (I don't do them at meal time to try and lose weight or anything, that's just how I remember when to do them)

I try to do 1 more than the previous day. I just started this a few weeks ago and I'm up to 67 consecutive. I hit a plateau a couple times, so I had to rest a few seconds before finishing. I noticed the next day I was able to surpass the plateau without tiring.
I couldn't do 25 when I started and struggled to hit 20. It's a good way to keep your body just a little stronger than the day before.

Right now, the only pushups I do are Plank to Chattarunga, so however many happen to be in the practice.

I'm training for discus over the summer and I just did 85 pushups. Not something I should do very often, but I went for 86 and my body was just not having it.

I haven't lifted weights in a few weeks, but back when I did, I could do about 40. Now I can do about 20-30, depending on the time of day.

I play University Division I Football (soccer) and we do lots of plyometrics. Don't really do push-ups, but can bench 225X10 easily. Not sure what that would equate to in push-up amounts?

I'm just an average guy. I'm 17 and I weigh about 190 lbs give or take, but I can do around 35 to 40 on average and the most I've done is 50. If you work at it for just a month you'll make huge gains I'm tellin' ya.

I'll do like carmodyarc, sets of 50 up to even 500 a day. But in one shot? Most I've done is 117...

Pfft. After 4K swim and a 160K on the bike?

Yeah, I used to be able to run 26.2 miles straight through in 4 hours 20 minutes and now I can barely run 6.2. Poo.
Pushups? About 12. My upper body is definitely not my strongest attribute, but I'm working on balancing that out with yoga now. (Also for strengthening the shoulder I didn't have surgery on because the one with hooks in it is now bionic.) :) Not to mention I had right knee problems the first day I tried running after that 4 hour run, too.
Mike_P, I never said I was an Ironwoman. ;) My good girlfriend in Ohio, however, is a 3-time completer. She humbles me.

Nice catch :-)
Now yoga, there's a habit I wish I had been doing from a younger age...
