I just started a couple of months ago. For about a month I stuck to flat bike trails and streets just to build up my stamina and to build up strength in my heart again. During the second month I ventured into some more wild terrain and now I'm starting to push myself harder.

Had my fair share of dislocated joints, bad scrapes and close calls, but yeah, that's what mountain biking is for me. Nothing like a little danger to make your life worth living.

Danger really does help in the living category. And I've broken over 50 bones in my life, so another won't kill me.

I bike a lot, but there is absolutely zilch hilly terrain where I live, so it's done mostly in parks and on streets. I walk my dog with my bike, see - I cycle and she runs behind.

Technically I'm biking my dog, but what the hell ...

I just started riding but am keeping it to the streets for a while to get more comfortable with my bearings before hitting the trails in my area. It's been easily 10 or 11 years since a bike was my primary mode of transport so I'm a little nervous. :x

I haven't mountain biked in 5 years, probably because I don't have a bike now and there aren't any hilly dirt terrain near where I live.

But when I used to go about it, I used to feel so alive. The trails where we use to go around lead out to the middle of nowhere and there would be some tight bends on steep cliffs. Pothole that'll swallow you up and some sights that will take your breath away.

What I love is cycling to the very top of the hill. Catch my breathe. And then go down at full speed.

Had my fair share of dislocated joints, bad scrapes and close calls, but yeah, that's what mountain biking is for me. Nothing like a little danger to make your life worth living.

I haven't brought along a camera with me yet, but I'm going to Sunday if the weather holds out. When I have been going, I keep kicking myself because I see things that I want to remember and I don't have a camera with me.

Well, I got in to it around 5 years ago, but the last 2 years haven't done much at all. This was due to all sorts of silly reasons (like having the worst summer ever last year where it just rained and rained all the time).

I'm intending to give my bike a bit of attention to make sure it's ok and get back in to it. I know it's going to be hard to get back in to it again though.

I've got loads of old mountain biking photos on Flickr and hope to add more when I get back on the bike this year.

In fact, it was probably the mountain biking that got me in to photography really. Photography doesn't keep you as fit as mountain biking though so I need to do both again!

I've been trying to build up the strength in my heart and I've taken up mountain biking. Nothing too extreme as of yet, but on Sunday I'm hoping the weather stays nice so that I can get out there and try a run at one of the harder trails in my area. I'm hoping I don't pass out, so good thing I'm going with some friends. Anyway...

Are there any other people that enjoy mountain biking?

So far I've been enjoying the scenery the most. Here in Western New York you never run out of beautiful things to look at. Mostly it's just trees though.
